This documentary on director Ernst Lubitsch focuses on his film work in Germany before emigrating to Hollywood in the early 1920s. Participation in the documentary includes Lubitsch family members daughter Nicola Lubitsch and niece Evy Bettelheim-Bentley, directors Tom Tykwer, Hans Helmut Prinzler and Wolfgang Becker, actors Henny Porten and Dani Levy, music editor Amanda Goodpaster, biographer Michael Hanisch, and film preservationists Enno Patalas and Jan-Christopher Horak.
